Didn't manage to find time to update my blog - and I realised that I haven't updated it for a month...these 2 weeks I've been sick. I had high fever during the last 3 days of the week off-in-lieu, then it complicated to become headache and flu one week in camp, now having coughs and sore throat. So altogether I've been sick for around...half a month.

It's not good to be sick.

And these days again I'm again bothered by some facts. I've been naming my entry title with numbers. This number also keeps make me wodering.

In which way do I show that I'm a Piano Grade 8 graduate.

Even though I do have a grade 8 cert, I still cannot appreciate music like others do. I can't sight read well (I always fail my sight reading) and I practically forget all the songs that I knew. My technique and foundation are lousy, I always merely pass my practical exams, can't really sit still when listening to a long piece of classical music.

So...actually grade 8, to me, doesn't mean much at all. And really, in a lot of situations, people think too highly of my music standard.

It's actually quite sad when things turn out like this. It has been around 15 years since I first touched the middle C. But I've come to appreciate this musical skill too late and didn't brush up on my foundation earlier. There are many times that I press the wrong keys - how many grade 8 students press wrong keys during their playing?

These days I've been watching this drama called "Nodame Cantabile". It is presented in quite an exaggerated style, but nonetheless it's quite inspiring. I get really envious of people who can play their instrument so well. I'm surprised by people who know so many pieces of classical music, knowing so much about famous musicians. Everything just tells me how lacking am I in this field.

I think I don't have the discipline to practise music well, no patience to correct my mistakes carefully, often resulting in the error in timing.

Music is a very discplined kind of art. You can't play it anyhow and in anyway you want it - you have to respect the score and the composer.

But piano has already given me a good musical background. From there I can go into other instruments rather easily. After Nov I think I will take up violin lessons - and hope to slowly regain my passion of music and help me to better in music.
